Entrance Examination Briefing in 2024 (held on May 11, 2024)

The entrance examination briefing of the Social Informatics Course, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University will be held in the hybrid format. In the briefing we will introduce our department, the procedure of entrance examination, and each research group.
Please note that the briefing will in principle be given in Japanese. There will be a chance to talk to the teaching staff in English during the separate meetings at the end of the briefing.

Global networking is rapidly expanding via information technology. Based upon the trends of technologies, which penetrate our daily lives, the Department of Social Informatics seeks to clarify the structures of highly complex information societies and actually design information systems that are useful for the world. Therefore, we endeavor to support the globalized activities of humans in the areas of culture, economics, ecology, disaster management, healthcare and education.

LOCATION

The briefing will be held in the hybrid format, in-person and online in a Zoom meeting. In-person: Lecture room 1 (1F), Research building No.7, Yoshida Campus, Kyoto University. For the access information, please check the campus map (the building number is 68 on the map).

We will send an email of the participation details to the registered people later.

ACCESS

  • From JR Kyoto, Hankyu Kyoto-kawaramachi, or Keihan Demachiyanagi station
    • By Bus
      • From JR Kyoto station: Take Kyoto city bus #17, #203(乙), or #206(甲) to Hyakumanben bus stop. Alternatively, take the Kyoto Univ. Hospital loop bus (“hoop”) to Kyoto University bus stop.
      • From Hankyu Kyoto-kawaramachi station: Take Kyoto city bus #3, #17, or #201 to Hyakumanben
    • By train
      • From JR Kyoto station: Take a JR train for Tofukuji, and transfer to a Keihan train to Demachiyanagi
      • From Hankyu Kyoto-kawaramachi station: Take a Keihan train at Gion-shijo station to Demachiyanagi
    • By walk from Keihan Demachiyanagi station
      • Walk along Imadegawa street for 10-15 minutes to the east and you will reach the Hyakumanben intersection
  • From Hyakumanben intersection
    Hyakumanben is an intersection of Imadegawa and Higashioji streets. Research building No.7 is located at the northeast corner of Yoshida campus of Kyoto University. So enter the campus from the southeast of the Hyakumanben intersection, and walk towards east to find Research building No.7. Please look at the campus map for the details.
