Since the wide spread of computers and Internet, we can easily share a large amount of information. In addition, as the result of the recent growth of social media, all sorts of information in this world is now uploaded by a wide variety of people. In order to make good use of such a large amount of a wide variety of information, we need technologies for accurately extracting and analyzing useful information in it, and also technologies for easily retrieving and browsing needed information in it. Our goal is to improve these technologies and thus achieve an information environment where we can utilize every useful information in the world. Our research themes include: social information extraction from the Web, social network analysis, crowdsourcing, information retrieval, information access interface, data models, and data security.
